Food and music fans, get ready for a weekend of lip smackin’ hip shakin’ fun!
The fifth annual Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival, presented by 97.5 BIG FM, will take over Smith Street in front of the Burton Cummings Theatre August 19 and 20, 2016 and will feature the best in international, national and local blues performers along with the “Pit Masters” barbeque competition, food and beverage garden and retail vendors.
Headlining acts will play on the Burton Cummings Theatre stage both nights. Creedence Clearwater Revisited will play Friday night, with legendary blues harmonica master James Cotton taking the big stage on Saturday night. The outdoor Festival site will also feature a stage offering hours of entertainment on both days. Other acts include Doucette, Tinsley Ellis Band and Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, Son of Dave featuring Ben Darville of the Crash Test Dummies, Cecile Doo-Kingue, Big Dave McLean and more!
The “Pit Masters” barbeque competition will once again be part of the Festival. It will take place Friday and Saturday with a $10,000 cash purse – one of the largest in Canada. The two-day event is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned barbeque competition that is open to amateurs and professionals who will be competing for points and cash prizes. Teams will also compete for a shot at an invitation to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue Competition (Lynchburg, Tennessee), the World Food Championships (Orange Beach, Alabama) and the American Royal Championships (Kansas City, Missouri).
The Festival welcomes back returning sponsors, Corus Radio, Big Rock Breweries, Jack Daniels, Manitoba Pork, River City Blues Society, and The Fairmont.
Concert passes, which include both outdoor festival site access and reserved seating for headlining concerts at Burton Cummings Theatre are available for $129.00, $99.00 or $69.00 (2 day pass) or individual day concert passes start at $39.00. Admission to the Street Festival site only, including outdoor entertainment, BBQ competition, vendor food and beverage areas, is $20.00 per day. All prices plus fees.
